Scarless & Sacred tells us not only Theo's story but also explains a lot of history for both DeLuca brothers. History that makes your heart hurt. A history that connects him to the other families of the Outfit. Connections that continually put Evelina Conti in his path.
This story is my favorite of the Chicago War series. Previously reading about Theo, I wondered what his deal was. He has a quiet air of arrogance. Scarless & Sacred blew my mind. There is so much more to Theo than I could have imagined. His history along with his present including Evelina made for a steaming hot story. The two together are amazing. The Chicago war kicks up in intensity going unimaginable places. You just need to read it.

Series is pretty good

It was totally impossible not to fall in love with Theo and Evelina. The insight into both of their pasts left me with no doubt that they belonged together. Knowing all that Theo has been thru just broke my heart. We also get a little more back story on his brother Dino, that sheds light onto a lot of the conflicts going on within the families.
What I love most about Evelina and Theo is the fact that they both uphold the true values of La Famiglia. The way their love developed over time was PERFECT. Especially the way they were able to trust each other despite other people's interference.
I swear you can never go wrong with a Bethany-Kris book. No one can tell a story by weaving together blood, vengeance, love, sex and family like she can. Can't wait until the next installment ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Evelina Conti hasn’t had the easiest life. Try being the daughter of the Mob boss in Chicago, street thick with war over loyalties and lies. Stepping a pinky toe out of line is a sentence to death in this way of life. One she’s accustom too, the good daughter of Riley Conti, she knows all the correct responses‘, she’s been molded into the perfect Mafia Princess.
On her 18th birthday she received keys to a beautiful blue BMW, but the wheels don’t symbolize the freedom most people would assume. It’s hooked up to a GPS tracker, and even more of a trap than the sheltered life she’s been living in the shadow of her connected family.
Enter Theo DeLuca, he’s a man that is reeling from the death of his brother, with no regard for the rules of this life, he’s a man of his own, with streets he runs, trying desperately to rebuild the life he’s thought he’d had, before Dino’s death, and all reality was shattered.
At Evelina’s birthday party, Theo tells her when she looses the tiara, to give him a call. Yet with the drive by shooting that leaves her mother dead, Evelina can’t make the right choice when it comes to Theo, she decides to ignore the chemistry between them, an continues her life as a role model for all mafia women.
There’s so much in play in this book, you start to see the web Bethany-Kris weaves with her other Chicago war novels, the mixture of story lines, the entrance of characters, this one BLEW MY MIND!!!
Damian and Lily Rossi are in this book, which makes my heart SWOON! I love that couple, and following Theo’s chilled soul in the path after his brothers death, gripping at the edges of his life and trying to blend them back together is heartbreaking. Theo is beginning to understand the life Dino lived, and how he’s been mapping out a safer future for his siblings ever since the death of their parents. Theo always distanced himself, and yet, after the dust has settled, the regret he holds from keeping Dino are arms length wears on him. Their childhood was nothing but horrific, and Dino did all he could to protect his brother and Lily.
With his grief, Theo allows some big players to spew his name in the dirt, taking to fall for a few drive by shootings, letting made men pin him for the aggravated acts that have been stirring the streets of Chicago.
When Evelina and Theo find themselves together, sharing a cup of coffee, he never could have predicted the events that followed.
Did I mention Riley marries a woman that rivals the age of his own daughter? Probably some of my favorite moments in the book is between that snatch Courtney and Evelina! And with Theo’s nudging of being herself, and not the groomed Princess that Riley adores, Evelina starts to use her own mind, instead of the cues a good mafia girl would. Get it girl!!

I hate giving away spoilers!!
We all can gather that a joining between Evelina and Theo is beyond taboo, and with an engagement thrown on the table, things start heating up quickly! What I will reveal is how quickly the green light is thrown on when the marks on Evelina’s neck are reveal to her intended husband-to-be!
But I will say Tommas Rossi, where have you been all my life?
And of course, we see more of Joel’s ugly head peering through. And while Theo tries to seek out the snakes, Riley, Tommas and Joel are throwing out his name in every instance just for the hell of a muddy mess. Theo understands the end game, but can’t help but know his head on a platter could be the ending result.
Watching Theo transform is not as nearly as satisfying as reading Evelina grow and speak her mind. The more time she spends with Theo, the more she begins to become the woman Mia would have wanted her to be. She throws the rule book right out the window and begins to truly come into her own, unafraid of what answers Riley and the Mafia might deal her out. Oddly enough, I wondered in the beginning if we’d get passed Evelina’s story, and once we did, I can’t help but feel the equal love between all the headlining characters inside the story!
Damian his the cool calm collected guy that seems to steer Theo in the right directions. Now after being three novels deep, you understand why Dino wanted Lily with a made man that isn’t abusive, and would love Lily to the ends of the Earth and walk through hell and back to save her, and in turn, save Theo.
*I know, I know, I’m almost done!*
Enter some other unfortunate events, a murder gone wrong, Damian sends Theo away, to New York, in fact.Wipe up the drool ladies! Gio, Antony and Dante Marcello are back in action! Dipping into NY slays me every time! With some healthy advice from the man men in New York, Theo is reminded of what this life really is, what exactly the Family is all about.
It’s safe to say Theo comes back to Chicago, against Damian’s suggestion, just in time to clean house!! He manages the unthinkable, and yet, we’re stuck catching out breath and hoping for all the best.
Flames peel off the pages of Theo and Evelina’s love story. The sneaking about, the hiding, the few days in Theo’s apartment where their story only continued; their love is one that’s made over time, and holds no bounds until their finally together. You can tell from the first instant Evelina over hears Theo and Dino arguing, and her lack of rushing away from Theo, the there’s something to be said about her waiting in the wings, not backing away from him, and only lusting further. Luckily for her, Theo’s more than willing, the ladies man might be notorious for the women he switches through, but the instant Evelina comes to him, Theo is completely screwed! It’s palpable, that chemistry, the lust, the need to walk across a dry desert just to glue the pieces back together.
Again, I can’t reveal anymore! The ending is delicious and satisfying, a beautifully constructed literary wonder that left me wanting more. I cannot thank Bethany-Kris enough for giving me the chance to review Scarless & Sacred!!! This novel doesn’t disappoint, is could be one of the top books I’ve read from this fantastic author! It was truly a few days of ignoring everyone and soaking up as much Chicago War goodness that I could!
I’m ready and waiting for book 4!!

I have loved this entire series. I knew Theo and Eve would be hell on wheels. I was so glad to see Riley finally get what he deserved. It was also so good to see Lily and Damian so happy. Adriano and Alessa were so sweet . I can't wait to read Breathless and Bloodstained. Great job Bethany.

Another great book in the Chicago Wars series. The plot had plenty of surprising twist and turns and I can't wait for the final book Breathless & Bloodstained. The romance was hot but I wouldn't say it was the main focus of the storyline like the other books in the series. Highly recommend.
These books keep getting better and better!!! I tried to pace my reading just so that I could delay the inevitable ending but I just couldn't do it. Sucked me in and I lost all track of time. This book is my favorite! I laughed, cried, swooned, got mad and sighed deeply at the end. I completely fell in love with Theo... just wow!!!
For me this series just keeps getting better. Maybe because I understand this world and the characters who inhabit it better. Maybe because more secrets are coming to light. Maybe because slowly but surely the disloyal and greedy of the Outfit are being culled. Maybe because we now have more past characters we love and I find myself loving them even more overtime. Whatever the reasons, I found this story even more engaging. It is amazing to me that Bethany-Kris manages to make each love story passionate yet unique. I cannot wait for the next enstallment. This does not end in a cliffhanger but clearly more is to come.
